Expresar Impersonalidad
Theory
In Spanish, we use impersonal structures to make general statements without referring to a specific subject:
- Se + 3rd person: Used for passive or impersonal actions (e.g., “Se cultiva papa”).
- 3rd person plural (general): Equivalent to “they say” or “people say” (e.g., “Aman la papa”).
- Uno (+ se) + 3rd person: Equivalent to the English “one” (e.g., “Uno se encuentra en…”).
- Hay que + infinitive: Indicates obligation or necessity (e.g., “Hay que contar”).
